This is by far the dumbest thing I've heard of..One should encourage people to become healthier ( not that subway is a healthy way of eating ) and not encourage them to stay unhealthy...and no this does not apply to the individuals with a disorder. These days everything leads to discrimination....I am a smoker BY CHOICE..and I do not encourage people to smoke just because I feel discriminated in certain places.... UNBELIEVABLE! As far as being healthy in ANY SIZE...I sure hope you're talking about muscle and not FAT.

Although this article is four years old, it is great in a timeless sort of way. I spent a lot of time around Vail in the early 70s. After being ejected from a store there in the mid 80s due to my riff raff appearance I never went back. When it came time for me to buy mountain property I didn't consider vail to be an option. Ive been happy to live in grand county for the last decade. I'm also overjoyed that the business owners in vail will never see a dime of my money. Makes me happy every time I think about it. So vail does in fact make some people happy...when they stay away from the place.

We have lived in our HOA for 4 years. The HOA acts like we live in Cherry Creek ( we don't we live in the country.) This morning my neighbor came to me and told me someone on the HOA board climbed our 6' privacy fence and was taking pictures of our back yard. I can't find any answers as to if they can do that. Isn't that trespassing?

Hello Neal, if you are still at the South Pole in Antarctica. I have read an exchange between you and Al Lewis from Colorado. Hope things are going well with you and you are finding some warm places to get away from the fierce cold! I could not take such cold winters. Wen I was a pastor in Indianapolis in the 1980s, it got down to 26 below zero and the wind steady at 70 mph with gusts going well above that! Being from the deep South, that didn't sit too well with me. That Winter I prayed and asked the LORD if there was a good church back in the deep south that needed a pastor who loved the LORD and people. Less than a year later I accepted a church in LaGrange, Georgia. It took me about three months to shake all the cold out of me!! God bless, and I hope you and your ex are still on friendly terms!!

my hoa is suing me to move my satellite dish which is in compliance with fcc regulations.

the hoa is also supposed to maintain landscaping, but my sprinklers have not worked in years and the hoa refuses to do anything about it. now they want to sue me for harrassment for both verybally and in writting requesting that the sprinklers be repaired.

the hoa, according to texas non-profit corporation law should have a reserve account and be part of the budget. there is no reserve account and the hoa spends every penny it takes in (22K per month for 72 units).

the financials given to residents were just the P&L and "budget" which were unaudited. There are audited financials but they gave the residents other documents.

the hoa manager suggested to my neighbor to sue me for damages to her property from years of wear and tear and damages caused by the prior owner of my townhome. my neighbor did sue me and i turned it over to my insurance carrier who did not want to pay to fight and the insurance carrier gave her 10k.

QUESTION:

Can I countersue for the hoa suing me for the antenna placement?

Can I sue for lack of fiduciary responsibility?

Can I sue for harrassment?

Furthermore, The HOA manager sent an invoice to a neighbor for 700.00 for sprinkler repair. The attached "backup" documentation was for work done at another townhouse, for work on sewer pipes instead of sprinkler pipes, and the invoiced amount was for much more. The manager sent this invoice to the trust fund accountant of the neighbor, who, fortunately, forwarded the invoice to the neighbor's family (the neighbor is mentally handicapped). This was last month and the neighbor has not received any follow-up billing from the HOA manager.

I am from the great state of ILLINOIS. I am more than happy to pay my union dues. Union dues are not allowed to go to political contributions by way of law. However you can opt like I "due" to pay extra money to go to a political league or what ever your union provides to go to political contributions. Unions support candidates who vote for the types of things that help workers of all types regardless of party, it just so happens that most republicans only vote for the rich and corporations, not the working class.

I live in Illinois, we purchased a home in a neighborhood before it was even built, and were the 1st to move in almost 8 yrs ago. The neighborhood has been built in 3 or 4 phases and still is not completed with several empty lots. The HOA has been non existent and never ha d a board yet we still paid our $300 for absolutely nothing, none of the common areas were ever maintained correctly and rarely even mowed. The park benches and path areas left to the same rare maintenance. In the last 2 yrs the HOA was handed over and "neighbors" who live in the last phase at the opposite end of the neighborhood jumped on the board and took over as director or CEO what ever he calls himself. He has steadily tried to strip away our rights, he has stated he has personally destroyed some of the benches and structures (benches and gazebo) on the common areas because he does not like them and wants them to go away, These are also in phase 1 and no where near his home. there is a 2nd entry way near his home that the people use to obviously go out the other way, he wants to close that road down to reduce traffic, which would of course force everyone past phase 1 the people who bought 6 yrs before he did. because of emergency access he has had a hard time getting that pushed through, but now he has informed me he is planning on trying to make this a gated community, so he can then restrict the flow going out the backside. He also wants to make an regulation/guideline that everybody has to ask the HOA any time they do any modification of their property or house. He also made comments about how people have put pavers next to their driveways and did I see "the newest checkered one down the road That is disgusting, I'm going to make them remove it" ( It is a very nicely done stone job, that has azig zag pattern of light and dark bricks). This guy is obsessed with money and how much he is spending on all of the new "improvements" he is making, and how much it costs for the attorney "we" hired, and how much money is owed to the HOA from all the years they did nothing. He is also obsessed with destroying our detention ponds which he lives no where near. The ponds have grown up naturally with trees, cat tails, and wild life, he wants to cut or burn everything out and have it replanted with flowers and "native vegetation" as opposed to the vegetation that grows naturally. This will only cost $8K-$10K.. ?? if we are so behind on money why are you wanting to throw it away on un needed items. This is crazy, how do we prevent his? I have a family with a small child and another on the way, I don't have time to go sit in on board meeting or become a member just to try and protect my rights and try to make sure the house and property I bought does not fall victim to a fascist mini Government. I hear people all the time making comments to others about the HOA, if you didn't want to be in one you shouldn't have bought in one, well my HOA was very limited when I bought and now they are going crazy. What can I do? If you want a gated community why didn't you move to one!

The H O A That i'm in has a really bad habit of not sending notices of assessments or court actions,( the supena was served by a board member of the hoa, didn't get that either. Now I have been ruled against , by default ( not showing up to court orded arbitration). Since this has taken place over a few years , with only 1 notification, from thier lawyer, after the fact telling me it was ruled in favor of the hoa.
Fast foward to today )3 years later), the hoa's lawyer has placed a tittle lein on my home,( approx. $9000), for assesments , court fees and the lawyer's fee. If I had it all to do again, there is no way in hell I would move into an hoa neighborhood. I can only say the hoa i'm in is greedy,underhanded , deceitful a_ _ holes whom do not deserve spit ifthey were dyeing of thrist! The hell of it all is i've gotten pictures of at least 5 items going against the cc&r's.( Probubly the board member's homes). I personally do not hate anything, but they have taught me a whole new meaning of the word,HATE.

I worked as a customer service represenative for Video Professor for six years ending in 2006. I can honestly say that there was absolutly no scams or fradulant activities that I was ever aware of or even heard of floating around the office. NEVER!

I forgot to mention that this christopher hardy is the treasurer/secretary and is not demanding hoa dues are due on the 1st, but not everyone can pay that on that date. the whole trouble started when I fell on hard times and lost my job, and fell behind on dues for a few months, and got a note on my door that I would be sued by there attorney and pay attorney fees as well as late fees, etc. I question the legality of this guy on as treasurer/secretary when he is not a primary homeowner at spring hill villas. and does the website as well as be in front of everyone at meetings with his boyfriend he lives with the manager of the hoa ryan norwood and they don't even have it on the bylaws that only a homeowner can be on the board!

I live in spring hill villas in knoxville, tennessee. I complained the the HOA manager Ryan Norwood on the website www.springhillvillas.com that having his liv e in boyfriend which I know is his business his private life, but he would not admit to me that his boyfriend living with him Christopher Hardy is on the deed or not. He said it was none of my business, but it is, and what is the legality of that? it does go against the state law which states only homeowers can be on the board, and i was verbally abused by this guy that acts like he owns the place namely christopher hardy and glarres at me during meetings..even if it is ok with the law it is very bad business for both of them to be on the board.
thanks, and how can i find out if this guy is on the deed?
